I set a goal at the start of the financial year…
Two months in, I’ve already changed it.
And I’ve decided that’s OK.
The goal isn’t to stick stubbornly to the plan. It’s to keep moving towards what matters.
These are my 3️⃣ tidbits on carrying goals that matter the most:
1️⃣ Choose something worth carrying
A goal shouldn’t just be something you can tick off. It should pull you towards a version of your life you actually want. Something that makes you think,
“I’d be proud if I did that.”
2️⃣ Expect the goal to change
The goal you set in July might not be the goal you need in December. That’s not failure. It’s feedback. Life changes. Circumstances change. You change.
3️⃣ Take something out
It’s easy to add a goal to a life that’s already full. The emails. The meetings. The deadlines. None of that disappears because you wrote a goal down.
So decide what comes out. If nothing comes out, nothing goes in.
To help you set goals, keep on track and carry what matters most, I built a goal-setting app, The Carry On, based on my C.A.R.R.Y.™ Goal Setting Framework.
