Imposter syndrome whispers in your ear 👂🏻…

Imposter syndrome whispers in your ear 👂🏻…

“You just got lucky.”

Sound familiar?

You’re not an impostor. That feeling often shows up right when you’re moving outside your comfort zone.

These are my 3️⃣ S’s to confront imposter syndrome:

1. Spot it

That voice saying “You just got lucky this time” isn’t the truth.

Say it out loud: “That’s impostor syndrome talking.”

Even better, give it a name.

When you spot it, you stop being controlled by it.

Naming it, gives you power.

2. Stack it

Your brain forgets your wins, so stack them with facts.

Praise.

Goals you have achieved.

Milestones reached.

Stack them in a folder or better yet, a Lolly Jar. A Lolly Jar filled with notes about moments you are fearful but showed up anyway. And make sure there are lollies inside too. When the voice says “you can’t”, grab a lolly and read the note that proves you already have.

You’ve done hard things before. You’ll do them again.

3. Say it

Impostor syndrome thrives in the shadows. But it loses power when you talk to someone you trust.

Chances are, they’ll say: “I feel that too.”

Turns out, the people who care the most often question themselves the most.

💡 Impostor syndrome is a signal, that you’re doing something courageous.

And that you’re upgrading into the next version of yourself.

1 Spot it.

2 Stack it.

3 Speak it.

Thought Provoking Quotes on this week’s topic

C.S. Lewis

It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.

Mae West

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
